There is so much to see and do in and around the area. Here are but
a few....
Shortwood
Shortwood is two minutes drive and about fifteen minutes walk from
Nailsworth. Highlands is located on the hillside of this peaceful
hamlet. There are many footpaths on our doorstep which take you into
the adjacent fields and beyond. The views are breathtaking at
everytime of year.
The nearest pub is The George Inn in Newmarket which is five minutes
walk across the valley.
Nailsworth
Nailsworth is in a beautiful setting in a wooded valley, surrounded
by flat-topped hills. The A46 runs through it making it easily
accessible from the M4 and M5. There is free parking throughout the
town which is convenient for exploring the many small individual
shops and the huge choice of cafe's, pubs and restaurants (many of
which are award-winning).
There are said to be more than 100 footpaths in and around
the town including the eight-mile footpath/cycleway which follows
the old railway line from Nailsworth to Stonehouse. Perhaps the most
famous footpath is the Nailsworth Ladder which is a steep route (1
in 2 1/4 in places) linking Nailsworth to Minchinhampton Common.
Woodchester Park with it's lakes, woodland walks and gothic mansion
lies on the northern border of Nailsworth.
To the west of Nailsworth is Coaley Peak from which there are
breathtaking views of the Severn estuary and the Welsh hills.
